I was wondering what time of the day you all prefer to train your young birds or old birds.
It is cooler in the early morning, which seems to be easier for the birds. So personally, when I first start training my youngsters, I like to release them around 7 or 8 am. As the training progresses, and I have them out to about 40 miles, and they are coming home at a decent speed, I like to start releasing them later. When I release them around noon, it is often in the upper 80's to lower 90's (Fahrenheit). I think they will get into better form this way, and that they are working harder than everyone else's birds, which are flying in the cooler temperatures. Also, when they are returning from a race, it is often not until the afternoon anyway.
I would like to hear anyone else's opinion.
Thanks, Bryan

i usually give my young birds a toss around 4 in afternoon and then the old birds an hour later as i find they home better looking for that evening feed , the toss is usually kept to around 30 - 35 miles which is enough .
