coccidia not only infects pigeons but all birds, dogs, cats, sheep, cows etc and many more animals.they become infected by swallowing the organism's eggs ,once swallowedthe yreplicate in the cells of the host ,in the prosess causing exstensive damage.in pigeons, this accurs in the lining of the bowel, after multiplying here, the newely produced eggs are passed in droppings, when initially passed, the eggs are thin.shelled and contain a spherical body, which looks granular, called sporoblast..within the bigger egg developes into smaller eggs..these are called sporozoites.when these hatch as we say the yburrow into the lining of the bowel, they at first multiply into mal/female and produce further eggs that rupture back into the bowel lining before being passed in droppings, thus completeing the life cycle.burying into the bowel wall it causes a microscopic pin holes in the bowel lining resulting in blood loss, electrolight, and vital nutirent loss, severly infected birds develope greenish diareah and are lathargic, thirsty, and lose weight.race birds with the slightest infection will not be able to perform 100%..treat it with baycox, moxidectin, the dose is 1ml per 2 litres of water for 2-3 days....sorry if can't understand my jibberish lol
