Just wondering. I've always trained no further than 40 miles, and it has worked for me.

i have sent to 50 mile as i find the birds will get an extra boost as the terrain they fly over is varied .

I always thought 20 miles was enough till this year when i got talking to a very good flyer in my area.So next year now i have a driving licence 40/50 miles three times a week for me. NO MATTER WHAT THE WEATHER they will go,

Hi, well i like to start of with a few short tosses say about 10miles,once thay have got the hang of the first few relases,i will continue to take them a futher. Now at 20miles ,thay will continue to go from this didtance untill thay beat me home.I will continue to take them on, now to 30miles,will contuine to go there untill thay beat me home. Then buy now thay are ready for the training transporter. This goes twice a week with about 400 birds on it from diffrrent areas,so now thay will go 60miles down the road, & hopefully put into practice what thay have learnt from the previous tosses, but mailnly there breaking point for home.Speckled

Seeing that our first race is 129 miles,we try and get them out to 100 miles a couple timesbefore the race. 80% of the training is at 40 to 50 miles 3 times a week before and after the season starts.

Cheers rocking rick, it seems to work, for me..Alway done the training that way. But with the olden thay will start a little further down the road, say about 30 miles, for there fist 4 tosses, as thay should now there way home, its getting them, fit & motivated, ready for the start of the racing.Chat our first is sometimes 112 miles but i still only take them 60 miles, but 2 yrs ago with the weather really nice i did manage to get, the birds to the race point, twice but it never made any diffrence, come first race lol Speckled
